I don't think they dim. I have the +12v spliced into a wire that is connected to the interior dimmer knob (I think) and it doesn't change brightness when you adjust the knob...

Battery measurement as an accurate as possible will be ideal

Correct. It started raining on me while I was installing it. I didn't want to run a wire in the rain!

I found a switched +12v at the defroster switch right above the radio...it isn't the best location however. When I use the interior light dimmer, the voltage on the meter drops. I would like the extend the measure wire and get a signal directly from the battery.
