Just got my keys - only cut one to test, thanks to all of the warnings re: locksmiths, etc. - sure enough, it doesn't work in the ignition. I just removed the key and am using the fob as a remote, which will work for me, but if you are expecting to have the keys work, I'd go to the best locksmith you can find and have them cut the key. I think the stop-shoulder is the issue here, as the keys look identical (the one he cut that works and the GE key that doesn't) except for the stop shoulder. The blank key is narrower at the shoulder than the standard BMW keys. Other than that, install went smoothly and the instructions here and on other threads are great for installation guidelines.

Recently picked up a z3m roadster. Would you happen to know the wiring configuration for that?

Does anyone know how do you hook this up to a garage door opener?

I wish I read this before trying to cut my keys this morning, one did not work at all, the second one was shoulder cut and worked one way but not the other then the same key did not work at all.

Going to order new blanks and try again.

Its the opposite of low quality actually, our keys are made of steel vs aluminum, the places I went to were nice enough to tell me they couldn't do it because it requires a different tool. So be sure they can cut steel when looking for a locksmith or just go to a dealership.

Got the kit installed and works great.

Went to a lock smith to have the keys cut and he messed up both of them. Neither works.
Blamed it on the metal being low quality?

If you don't have anymore blanks can you please PM your source for them?
I am in the same boat. My locksmith destroyed my two key blanks and said it was because the metal was too hard. I pm'd you a couple of days ago. Please let me know where I can get some key blanks. I will gladly pay.
