turtle wax ice clay bar kit

Dont buy this..it was the worst mistake ive ever done to my car. The trunk and hood looked like they were a bit duller than when i started, but people told me they thought it looked better..so i started on the door..wrong idea..i couldnt even see my reflection in it, and it wasnt because i didnt do it right. the stuff wouldnt come off..i had to get my car buffed and waxed for it to come off my car.

I think you might not have been paying attention to how clay bar works.

This shit only takes the crap out of your paint so you CAN buff it.

You still have to polish/seal/wax after.

Turtle Wax is shit, though. Only their old red "rubbing compound" is worth a shit, and it is still shit compared to others on the market.

did you use any kind of a "lube" like spray on detailer?
otherwise you are just rubbing in the clay to the paint and not pulling the crap out of the paint and into the clay bar

Yes, it will. It will pull any wax or other treatment off your paint...so yeah, it is supposed to.

As Greg mentioned, you MUST use some kind of lubricant, too. JParker used Griots "Speed Shine" when he did mine. I think he got about 2 pounds of shit out of my paint!

i used the kit, so yes it had lube with it.. theres 2 steps to it step 1 is liquid clay which you put on a terry cloth towel and rub on the car..then you rinse with cold water..then step 2 you use clay lubricant and use the clay bar..then you wipe it off with a microfiber towel..and it said nothing on it about needing to do anything after using it. It said it should have a finish as smooth as glass..

but i didnt expect it to be as smooth as glass..obviously since the paint is as old as the car.. but i did think it would look better.

After you are done, wash and wax car as normal. I've used this stuff and if you follow the instructions, paint is smooth and ready for wash and waxing.

I used a turtle wax polishing compound which I'm pretty sure amounts to the same thing. From what I did, once you wipe it, the paint appears to be I'd rate it as good. Then when you wax it, it ups it to great. Unless your car has crap paint to begin with like mine was sorta oxidized after many months not driving, you don't notice much improvement til its waxed. I've never been displeased with any turtle wax products.

If it's any consolation I used the Meguiars kit and it worked better than expected. Highly recommended.
