    IE Ireland engineering bushings

One word review would be: Garbage.

in approximately 30,000 km's the trailing arm bushings had gone so soft that there was essentially no bushing left. I could easily push the rear wheels forward or backwards about 3/4 of an inch or so total movement.

I contacted Jeff about this issue, and because i had to torch out the trailing arm bushings, he said that if i showed him a receipt for purchase, and pictures of the remaining bushings on the car, that that would be sufficient grounds to get replacements.

I did as he requested, and he failed to contact me for 7 days, until today when I finally called him. He was "busy" with a customer, and failed to call me back, so I called him again several hours later, and one of his underlings tried to help me until he became aware that he was unable to help. Jeff was then put on the phone, and he was most unhelpful, and stated that he would me to send in the bushings that were garbage as a new requirement to get replacement bushings. However, since he did not request this before and I don't make it practice to store garbage parts, they had already been thrown out.

Jeff then claimed, that he has never ever had a single issue with any of their bushings. Which we all know is bullshit, and I called him on it, and he denied denied denied.

I have since replaced the trailing arm bushings with AKG bushings, and I could not be happier about fitment and ride.

    AKG > IE

That's unfortunate to hear. Do you know if Flying Brick's bushings are AKG?
The grilles really distract you from the fact that someone took a sledgehammer to the front end.

I think that Jeff would have honored his warranty if only you had kept the "proofs". Come on. It only take a minute to take a picture or two and send them. I once had a bad engine mount and it only a picture to describe the problem. Replacements were sent right away.

Should have kept the old parts for a claim. That's the usual claim process.
Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

the point is that they only lasted 30,000 km's in the first place, the roads are not great here, but 30,000 is unacceptable.

the problem is not really with the warranty, though he could have dealt with it in a more timely manner. He also could have addressed me as a person instead of typing short incomplete vague sentences .

The AKG bushings fit much better then the IE products, you can see bubbles in the IE urethane, but there are no bubble in the AKG urethane.

you can buy AKG from AKG, they're prices are good too, and they ship fast.

hes slowness is bad, if you didnt keep the part thats kind of not sufficient ground for warranty claim.

although its very good to know, that these bushings arent reliable.

Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

Most parts get a 12,000 mile warranty, provided you submit the defective component in return, standard practice. They offered to essentially double the mileage coverage that is more than acceptable to any parts buyer, as long as you sent the defective ones. You failed.

If you bought a TV and it broke, would you throw it away before making a warranty claim?

                      duh!

for all he knows you're just another broke baggypants looking for free parts.

i bought a flywheel from them and was given wrong size bolts, they had no problem giving me new bolts of the correct size.

My experience with aftermarket polyurethane quality (UUC, Rogue, Tree House Racing) in all of my various generation BMW's (sway bars, FCAB's and RTAB's, Diff Bushings etc.) is that their polyurethane bits are NOT GOOD. I've noted serious squeaking or they deteriorate and deplete at an extremely high rate... Although I do autocross and open my car up at other track events, I expect them to be... if not similar to OEM quality (or better than as they usually claim)... to last more than a couple of weeks of "spirited" driving.

With my experience, I can hands down vouch for POWERFLEX. I've used them in trucks, other non-BMW’s. They're top quality. Not sure what’s in the compound but reliability is superior to the other vendors that are trying to stick there feet in a market they know very little about. Not only that but I had seriously squeaking issues after several re-lubes with other vendors polyurethane and never once did my POWERFLEX bushings squeak, crack or even fall apart (as apparently the IE bushings do) on any my trucks and street/track cars.

Screw the image and go with the brand that knows performance polyurethane bushings. POWERFLEX all day.

Since I've posted last my TRB have held up great and I'm most impressed with the Subframe bushings. I'd recommend IE
