Hartge 16" 4 lug center caps

After searching for a couple years without any luck I've decided to take a swing at this project. I have the means to reproduce these using advanced injection molding techniques. However as nobody seems to be interested in working for anything less than a couple grand nowadays the project is cost prohibiting for just a few pieces for myself. So that's why I'm posting here to see what the interest will be in making these. I know that most anyone with a set of the infamous design A Hartge wheels in 16 x 7.5" 4 lug e30 fitment will want to have an extra set of center caps even as spares as they have been NLA from Hartge and Ronal for quite sometime. What I would like for now is a list of interested people just to see if there is enough commitment, I know the interest will be there but I need serious interested people to post their names list style. The injection mold alone is a couple thousand dollars so the more people there is the more feasible it will be. This will not be a homemade solution using a silicone or fiberglass mold this will be something exactly as good or better than the original part using modern injection. We will even try and address the braking of the mounting tabs common in the original caps. I've done quite some research already on the process, suppliers, costs etc. My goal is to get this done as soon as possible, I'm not a dreamy guy, or a 20 yr old kid nor someone setting up one of those never ending GB's as seen around the forums. So I only need serious guys involved please. I have a brand new cap for the mold, It will be 3d scanned and rapid prototyped in polycarbonate before the final injection mold is forged so fit will be 100%.
Please post your name if you are interested:

16x7.5 is good, 16x8.5 would be better. ;)

However you will probably get more interest if you work out some ballpark bottom line prices.

Love these wheels, best looking on the E30 IMO. Wish I could commit to them.
      paint sucks

+1 on the base price. Id be down for a set if you'll ship to New Zealand, and cost permitting of course

Two sets, one for 4x100 the other for 5x120 if you do go through with this I would like a decent estimate as I an not getting my other set back from the shit head powdercoater I used.

I honestly don't think there are more than 7 sets on R3V. You might want to expand this to www.e30zone.com and maybe some of the Aussie-NZ crowd as well as the Taiwain guys there were a few sets of them there too.

I already have a set of the plastic centercaps, but they are getting old and brittle. I could be interested in a new set depending on the price.

I liked the idea that was thrown around a few months back about reproducing the metallic centercaps with the set screw. It's too bad it never came to fruition.

Interested in pricing breakdown. I'd need 4 of these.

As far as price goes I don't really know a price. If I did I would just be selling them right off. As with any industrial product model the more units produced the lower the cost will be. I know there are not infinite Hartge wheels needing these so they will not be cheap. I'm not even going to guesstimate a price cause it would be totally made up unless I can divide the cost into the number of at least interested people. Then I can estimate a price. That is why I wanted a preliminary list of interested parties. Off course it they are $1000 each no one will want them so again if you are serious about getting some caps for your hartge's just sign up. It's not a commitment yet so nothing to loose by writing your name on a list. Again these will only fit the 16 x 7.5 et 25 4 lug wheels. I'm pretty sure the 5 x 120 cap is not the same.

The 5x120 is not the same as the hub bore is a different sized.

                        IDM,
Great project - I hope you get a lot of takers so that this happens. I started the attached thread back in Dec. for machining the Hartge aluminum bolt on caps (different from your application) but got very little interest so couldn't make them cost effective for the R3V crowd. I hope your idea is successful.

I'd be in for at least a couple sets.
