Massive - brackets to fit a 16" Spal fan on e36/e46 rad

All the brackets have arrived and I made a quick photoshoot to show what you get and how the S14 set works. Basically, your purchase gets you what is displayed below. Including free Massive and Motorsport stickers.
The S14 mounting brackets are for a 13" Spal fan
How to install the brackets on the radiator. Note that the brackets are located behind the fan, not between the fan and the radiator. It allows for a much smaller gap between fan and rad, and it also reduces the area of the core that is blocked by the brackets. The stainless steel bolts have a shallow domed head for improved clearance.
How it mounts in the car.
It can be done with the radiator in place, but the AFM must be removed to access the lower left point. If you had a shroud with the metal screws, then you can retain them. The big washers got at the back to make up for the four squares in the rad's mounting tabs.
I will later show how the brackets for the e30 325i and e36 radiators work.
PS Only four sets of the S14 brackets left. For now.Last edited by Massive Lee; 07-02-2010, 02:08 PM.Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

The e30 and e36 rads share the about the same measurements. 460mm (e36) and 465mm (e30) - e36 radiator pictured below. The brackets are meant for a 16" Spal fan and can be used in pusher and puller mode. The mounting points on the fan are slotted, and so are the brackets. Therefore you can move in or out the fan. Closer or further. Great for those who are using Spal's rubber gasket that goes between the rad and the fan.
Allow me to highlight that brackets are shipped with a plastic protective film to ensure that the brushed stainless steel is delivered without scratches. So just peel the film and you are ready to install the brackets. Install is better done with the rad out of the car. A simple drill with 1/4" bit is needed. 4 holes on top. 4 at the bottom.
Basically fit the brackets to the fan, lay the assembly on the radiator and adjust the height. Mark the holes with a felt pen and drill the mounting holes.

As the intro offer was supposed to end after I showed pictures of the finished product, and as I was late by a few days on production and pictures. I extend the intro price up to midnight Friday night.
So, it is $50.00 + $15.00 to massivebrakes@gmail.com
Then, the regular price of $75.00 + shipping usd kicks in.
Thanks everyoneBrake harder. Go faster. No shit.

You could fit a 16" puller fan and ditch the viscous coupled unit. How tall is your radiator?Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

Well, I had to ditch the viscous unit - the PO did - because there's an M30 in the engine bay :). I'll measure, SPAL says the unit is 88mm deep at the hub and I don't think I have 100mm to spare. The radiator is the E28 535i OE part, I'll measure and report back.Comment

Spal mentions 52mm thick. I wonder if the fan can be fitted in front of the radiator, between the rad and the A/C core.Last edited by Massive Lee; 07-06-2010, 03:11 PM.Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

BTW Just curious. Any reason for fitting an e36 rad in an e30 while the e30 radiator is quite potent?Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.
