sweet piece, just remember it lessens the collapsing effect of the steering column in an accident. i'd still run one lol.

i dont know that it would lessen it becuase the collapsable part of the column is up higher in the car than this piece, im honestely not sure what effect it would have on that, but we have tested it in several street and track cars and it's definately safe and has yielded good results. If anyone is interested, just PM me or post here

            How did you test it?

I'm sure it DRIVES fine --- but I highly doubt you crashed a couple E30s head-on into obstacles just to ensure the steering column collapsed as designed....

Not making fun - just making sure these details are clear, since we are talking about personal safety.

as a matter of fact, we had a customer with a test guibo in his car hit a pot hole HARD! hard enough to bend his wheel, and collapse his steering column, the guibo had no ill effects in his accident, and after talking with the guys at work further today about this subject, we really consider it safe in the aspect of the collapsibility of the column, no garuntees, but, we do deem it safe. but yes, its for "race aplications only" so buy at your own risk.

So is it "race app only"? What about it makes it unsafe for the street? Is it just a liability issue?

Is that the price shipped? How hard would it be to install that piece? I have never dealt with the steering rack before.

its plus shipping, but it wont be much more. you remove the existing coupler, cut off the old hardware (it doesnt unbolt) and bolt in the new (included) hardware. not too hard.
