I'm still very new to m42s.
Are turbos common? Is there a good place to find out info on the numbers they can put out?

they are not very common, well on the e36's and over on bimmerforums they are. but not cheaply with readly available parts. at around 10psi the motor would put close to 210-215psi flywheel, and if you do single mass flywheel your likely to put alot more of that to the ground. thats good enough to make mid 13's out of a mid 16 second car...

another good point is that it depends how cheap you are and what you put into it. if you go cheap you can get it below 1000 if you want an insane setup go ahead and spend over3k. it all depeneds on builder and buyer.

yeah its really going to depend on what parts you use, new or used and what quality. It also will help you to get the price down a ton if you take your time and look for great deals. I am thinking about putting together one or two kits for us m42ers. One starter kit and one full kit. We'll see how it goes. My car and maybe Max's ;) car will be the guinnee pig

Sorry for the lack of updates guys, im going to be going to boot camp nov 1st so this weekend im going to be stripping my manifold off the car and having the conversion done, and a few weeks afterwords you will have an update and pics if possible. I wont be responding though unfortunately due to the 2 months in teh big freeze but Asu will be around and might actually be boosting before i get back.

Flow and power would so much better with a tubular manifold.

IMHO a log manifold is a waste.

yes a tubular would flow a little better but that wouldn't matter much for a <10psi setup. The Mosselman kits use a log manifold and get great results.

Please count me in. I'd be willing to be the first 4 door guinea pig
However, I need an a/c. No way around that for me. If I have to upgrade/change to an M44 compressor, so be it...

It looks like there might be some nice SS manifolds available relatively soon for yall. Price should be in the $350 range. As soon as I get the first one done, I'll post pictures. :)

UPDATE: If I get at least 5 people with definite "yes" answers, I can start fabrication of stainless tubular manifolds. I found some good sources, and can definitely get them started late next week, after Christmas, and will be able to offer them for $400 + shipping a piece.

Anyone with interest, let me know. Anyone sure they can jump in, please make it known.

                          Let's get the ball rolling!
