Heres what we came up with..... This guys wanting to make things as cheap as possible to stick it to the other manufacturers who charge out the ass for CF work. The easiest way to do that is to use less carbon. The big guys only use one coat of carbon anyway.... this guy is using 2-3 on pieces for strength. In order to achieve his goal the parts have to be a decent size. I can get him skirts, but the problem is that after doing all the work to get a set done..... you are going to be in the range of what a set of side skirts would cost new. He can ALWAYS do a one off for you. ALWAYS. And thats what he is looking for. Custom stuff. He is moving out of his garage shop and into a dedicated shop ONLY for this CF stuff next week. He just recieved his order of resin and a 100 yard roll of carbon. Depending on how long it takes to get parts from Cali to Calgary...... this guy could be molding parts for us by the end of next week.

If you are really serious bout skirts, once I get this going smoothly I'll maybe throw together a mini-GB of about 5 or so and we'll go from there.

I think what you, and your carbon guy, are doing is awesome! It's time for some affordable carbon...

I'm very serious about skirts, I honestly don't like anything else that's out there right now and I'd love to have something somewhat individual. If he could do something for less than $500 I'd be all over it, like I said, if I can help with mock-ups or patterns or something I'd be glad too!

I'm in the middle of a few things here but when I get a chance I'll see if I can make a cardboard mock-up so I can get an idea of what would look good, and what wouldn't. What do you guys think about the skirts on that M3 I posted? That's sort of what I have in mind...

Also, the shop I work at is in the process of parting out a bunch of e30s and e28s so if you want I, too, could locate parts to send to Canada.

        Thanks!

Okay, just seen this, here's what i'm thinking:

          tweeter pods
          Late model plate filler
          A pillar trim?
          Kidneys
          LM brake ducts
          Map pockets
          parcel tray?

So what is the probability of the CF kidney rings seeing the light of day?

If this is a definite deal, I'll lay off figuring out a setup to start my own CF work -

Is there a date that you would be able to give a real answer by, so that I could either fire this up on my own, or wait for you guys to mint off some of these?

            Thanks in advance!

            -Ben

I should have parts out to him this up coming week. Depending on delivery time, we should see parts being made as early as next weekend. As for the hard to get parts like mtech I wings and the ryan g splitter..... Thats going to take another 2 weeks or so to get in the mail to him.

The CF kidney rings are a go. they will probably be one of the first pieces that get made.

The skirts.... He's weary of doing anything that large and I don't blame him. I'll probably work something with you to get an idea of what everyone would like and go from there. Maybe some regular iS skirts or even mtech I skirts.... Dunno.

I wish I could give you more solid information but its all too sketchy without him actually having parts and know what its going to take. Here are some pics of the SRT parts he's doing:

I already have a CF hood, and I want a CF trunk. How about euro style(radio in the middle) radio/AC panel? I would be down for outer door handles and A Pillars too. But I really want a trunk!

I've done a little snooping around and I think your idea of M-Tech 1 sides would be perfect!

I'd like to be able to leave somoe carbon showing but have the skirt mostly body color, what to guys think the best way to achieve this with an mtech 1 side would be?

How about a CF reiger front lip? I would gladly send mine over to be used.

                              ah, the art of wrapping.

i did a lot of what you see on that car. he bought the carbon, resin, and sent me a check for 100 dollars, and all of the parts, and i went to town. looking back, i spent a good 75 dollars on all of the other stuff needed to finish them right.

but looking at the stuff this guy has made, it's going to be quality. he's actually molding it, whereas i just wrapped the parts. either way, wrapping and molding both take a lot of time, patience, and materials, so don't bitch about the price. cheap ass e30 guys

Great to see someone actually going through with the work. Would be interested in a couple of parts as well when you get the molds and the final list together.
