    NewM3 kit - 300mm x 32mm kit for 15" wheels

Massive is proud to introduce its new Rally kit with 11-3/4" x 1-1/4" (300mm x 32mm) rotors and 6 pot SL6R Wilwood calipers. The kit will fit Kosei K1 15" x 8" (no spacer required - direct bolt-on) and perhaps other 15" race wheels. It will obviously also fit 16" wheels with ample room between the rotor and the dish.

Complete kit is priced under $1500usd including everything, but brake pads (it a very personal choice). Hats are only available anodized silver, and steel radial mounts are zinc plated for protection. All fasteners and brakelines included.

Ideal for those of you who have several sets of 15" Kosei K1s or are racing in Classic groups where 15" wheels are required, or for rally. But remember that wheels require exceptional clearance behind the spokes. We use full thickness 20mm brake pads, stiff thick calipers and wide rotors.

Rotors are off-the-shelf Wilwood parts and easily available. There are 4 choices of rotors to fit this application. From $50 to $100 each. We supply the $70 Heavy-Duty rotor. For auto-crossing, you might elect to buy a lighter rotor that will reach proper heat sooner. It takes about 10 minutes to change a rotor. NO balancing required as the hats have a specially machined hub to center the discs in any situation (just like a wheel hub).

Hawks, Porterfield, Performance Friction, Carbotech, Ferrodo, all have their compounds available for the 7420 pad shape. Some AP Racing calipers use that same pad shape. It is 20mm thick, so it is a tru race pad, not the usual 16mm thickness.

I just tested the fit with a 15" x 8" Kosei K1 this morning. No spacer required. The caliper's perimeter is about 2mm away from the insie perimeter of the barrel, in a section that is extremely strong. So, even a bent wheel will work. But outer balancing weight most be relocated.

ABS ring is not affected. But you can forget about the pad wear sensor.

    Thanks.

this looks to be a sweet kit for non-m e30's with m3 5-lug.

only thing is can you run superlite instead of the sl6r?

This kit only exists with SL6R. There is a 4 lug version of that kit with Superlites and same thick 11.75" x 1.25" rotors. It is priced under $900. They are in stock. But beware, they require wheels with exceptional clearance such as Team Dynamic's Pro Race 1.0

Here are a few shots of the installed kit in Phil Abrami's 15" x 8" Kosei K1 (Thanks Phil for letting me borrow one of your wheels).
Installation is a direct bolt-on. No wheel spacer or shim is required.

Lateral clearance with the spokes is 3/8" (near the hub) to 3/4" (away from the hub).

Radial clearance with the barrel is 2,5mm (a bit less than 1/8") at the closest point. It requires to relocate the balancing weights.

Seriously, awesome design. If I had the money and didn't have a billion mods to do before brakes, I'd pick these up in no time flat!

Here is an update about the M3 rally kit with 11.75" x 1.25" rotors and 6 pots radial calipers. I tested the fit with some 16" x 8.5" Hartge wheels (et25) that are usually rear fitments. All it needed was 12mm or 15mm spacers to clear the wide calipers. Upon installing the kit on my own car, I realized that there were major discripencies in Lemforder control arms castings. One side was clearing the disc generously, while the other required to grind 2 or 3mm off. Only a two minute operation, but still bugging. I installed some Wilwood Q Compound brake pads and tested the kit for a full day on a brand new track called Calabogie, in Ontario. I ran the kit with no air ducting. The results were quite impressive even with some Toyo RA1s in 235.40.17 size. Lap after lap, session after session, I had prefect modulation of the strong brakes and could lock them at will. Even the cheap Wilwood pads ($75 vs $180 for PF97-01) were doing a great job. With the PF97s, they were too strong and required to be extra carefull. I did 4 sessions and still had a firm pedal at the end of the last one. No overheating to kill the fluid. The brake bias was perfect. Never did I felt that the back end was twitchy. I could brake hard in straight line, or softly trail brake, without feeling any unbalance. Having predictable brakes allowed me to drive hard in full confidence. I highly recommend the Q Compound as it generates limited friendly dust, is smooth on discs, don't squeal, and can be used on a daily driver. And it is very cheap. The best of all worlds. I have two sets of expensive PF97s that I won't probably be using anymore.

That kit is the perfect options for those who attend driver schools and races, and don't want to got to the bigger 13" kit and rear 12.2". At under $1500usd + pads, they also are great value. Especially if using Q Compound pads which makes the kit more economical that using PF97-01 on the long run. Calipers with stainless pistons are also more enduring than street calipers with rubber dust boots, which melt and crack under extreme heat.

Here are a few shots taken after the event.
