Rear e30 race brake kit - GB

Hi everyone. I have been asked by many to come up with a rear race brake kit for e30s (non-M as the ///M kit already exists). It is a race kit only as there is no provision for ebrake.

Aluminum hats, 11.75" x 1.25" HD or UL rotors for maximum cooling (there is basically no air to the rear wheels) and radial calipers. Either the radial BNDL, or the 4R with no Thermolock pistons. To order the 4R with no Thermo pistons (it will drop the price of each caliper by $100usd) I must order 10 sets.

The rear installation kit (hats, brakelines, radial mounts, fasteners) will be offered at $550usd. HD rotors are $70usd each, UL a bit less, calipers will be from $150 to $300usd each ($390usd with Thermo pistons). I will start production if I get 5 more interested parties, with advanced payments on the installation kits. Delivery is 3 weeks from the day production starts. I already have three guys in (1 from Holland, 2 from the US), so I need those 5 extra orders to start the ball rolling.

Hats will be silver or black. Rotors will be plain, no drilling, no solts, no special order.

Just put your name and contact me for details.

    Thanks.

Here is an comparaison of the stock rear M3 rotor, with a Massive 12.2" x 1.25" pizza.

Here is what the components for the rear 2002/e21 race kit look like. To be used with a BNDL caliper and 11.75" x 0.81" discs.

And how the 2002/e21 rear kit looks, installed with the optional eBrake. Photo for test fitting only. Some bolts are missing, but my cat had approved the kit.

Brake harder. Go faster. No shit.

Is there any way to implement an e-brake into that setup?

Those kits are only for e30 racecars. If you feel you need an ebrake, chances are that you don't need this rear kit. I will not integrate rear ebrake. Those who opt for a rear kit, should start ordering and installing the front kit. Then if they feel they do not have enough rear brake, then hop on the bandwagon.

The e30's weak spot is the front brakes. Let's start there and see if you really need rear.

As far as weight goes: 3 lbs hats + 10 lbs discs + 4.5 lbs calipers and 4 lbs pads = 21,5lbs

Lee, i want to do big brakes all around, but i must have an e-brake to pass inspection here in germany.

Is there a way to incorporate a hydrawlic hand brake so the rear caliper does the e-brake duty? I think Vlad does something like that in his car.

I'm going to order something by september...

Hi Eric. I understand the necessity of an ebrake system for annual inspection. Unlike the e30 M3 kit which is 12.2" x 1.25" and has an aluminum hat and steel ring to accomodate the stock ebrake shoes, that system cannot be transposed to the regular e30. Rotors are too small.

I have made an ebrake kit for 2002s and e21s by using spot calipers. It is pretty efficient and affordable. But the amount of work to design such a system is astronomical.
I suggest everyone to try a front set-up first. With 1.38" pistons, it is a very well balanced system. Pedal is stiffer than stock and has less engagement travel. The front piston area is a bit smaller than stock, which moves the hydraulic bias to the back to offset the bigger rotors upfront.

Currently, I only have 2 front Sport kits left and 8 race kits left. Being a small niche market, when they are gone, they are gone, and next batch of front kits will be only as a GB with a prepaid reservation list. Same as what I am doing now with the rear kit. I only start them if I have 5 prepaid kits reserved.

What if you could get 5 prepaid kits for rear e30 w/ ebrake capability? I'm not ready now, but I would like to get a full BBK in the future and have really like the feedback of your setups.
