Someone correct me if I'm mistaken, but all M42's are 175.

And I'm down and will send money whenever this becomes available. I'd like the rev limit to be at 7000

I'm iffy on the 7200 rpm limit. Any dyno graphs showing what happens after 6000 rpm in a chipped m42 motor? Has Mark D even dynoed any of his m42 chips?

Thanks...I am almost in on this....

n/m i would like it at 7000rpm because the tachometer doesn't reach 7200rpm, so no point, and this way it will protect my engine.

Count me in for 1 7200rpm chip for sure (damn e30 addiction)

ay, put me down for a 7200. sounds like fun.

e9nine is cool to relay the shipping to me if need be. its only a chip, how dear can it be to send. wrap it up in pretty pink, a purple bow and send it down under.

Tach doesnt restrict revs, the ECU does.

We'll have a before/after dyno as soon as I get my chip....where do I send money?

Okay guys, I just got off the phone with Mark. Here's the deal:

He has a chip made for the M42 right now ready to go, but says that he knows there is more potential in the motor and would like to completely re-map it. He made this one about 10 years ago, and says there is room for a lot more power to be had in this engine. He never really had any incentive to do it, but since we have 7 guys here, he will start the project this week.

The chips will all be for 91 octane and with a 7200RPM limiter. They will also have very different part-throttle fuel curves, so expect a very torquey feel, much like the one I described in the review of my chip. The rest is unsure at this point, but like I said, he wants to create an entirely new mapping and he wants to finish it very soon. He's actually putting his new OBD-II programming on the back burner for this.

Rob, you will get the first chip. We need a solid baseline tester, and you seem to even have the dyno access. I'll be in touch with you.

Good things come to those who wait, him making an entirely new chip is huge news. Expect an update soon. 8)
