i know i like how the h&r race spring ride, but they are still a little too soft. arent they like 300/500 or something like that?

so would a 400/600 set up be a good combo for a mostly dd car with the occasional auto x that has bilstien sports?

I can't tell you if you'll be happy with it or not, try and get a ride in someone elses car to get an idea what might be too stiff for you.

so i'm in for a hybrid e36 front/e30 back.

I am not sure if GC will set such a hybrid kit at a discounted rate, as it's basically a one off. I'll ask though and let you know.

Fronts yes, rear might be getting to the limit of what the off the shelf shocks can handle.

good luck finding a shock that wont blow running 600# fronts. from experience, normal Koni SA and Bilstein sports will hold up to just under 500# front springs before blowing out. anything above 500# you need race shocks (Jstock/TCK/Koni Race).
