first of all i wanted to judge interest. if i cant get the number of people i want easily, i don't wanna go through the hastle of begging people and searching for people.

second, thats why its called a feeler. not a group buy

what are some other springs that aren't quite as aggresive as IE stage iii's?

as much as i'd like my e30 to handle like a race car, i don't think i want to sit as low as stage 3's would put me, simply because i dont want to worry about bottoming out so much.

Would it still be worth it to get koni's now, and a lesser overall drop for now, and maybe upgrade to something more agrressive/lower in the future?

They're not too bad really. I think it'll be cool until I bottom out so much that I have to get some H&R sports.

According to each respective manufacturer, the IE Stage III and the H&R Sports are supposed to lower the car the same amount in the front and back.

I would be more bothered by a car with race springs jittering over every imperfection in the street surface, and there are plenty of imperfections in the DC area.
But maybe the IE 3's are not as stiff as full-on race springs . . .

Springs - stage 3 race springs
IE E30 Stage 3 Race Springs

New Product - These are custom made for us by Eibach one of the top spring manufacturers in the world. Our springs are perfect for "stock" and "prepared" club racers, autocrosers and agressive street cars. They are suprisingly streetable for dual purpose and driver school cars. Ride height is streetable with some care from the driver. Ride height is reduced 2" front and 1.5" rear from stock. Our track testing proved these springs work well on both 325's and M3's. We think this is the absolute best set up for an E30.

We designed these springs because we found no other springs on the market we liked. Some "race" springs are just street springs made a little stiffer and some are just way too stiff. We designed our springs to be not too stiff for bumpy tracks yet stiff enough to reduce body roll. We suggest pairing these with our sway bars to further control body roll.

IE Stage III are quite a bit more stiff than my H&R... slammed_e30 has the stage III which I noticed is quite a bit stiffer having been in his car quite a bit, and my car is on H&R sports.

If I am not mistaken, Stage III lowers about 1/2 inch more in the front than H&R sports too, not 100% sure though.

It's streetable according to them, so I'd assume it's not too bad. But considering the GB pushed their price to sub H&R Sports price, I just said why not. If it gets too annoying, I'll goto H&R Sports. I drive on dirt roads, so bumpy doesn't bother me, and the paved stuff around here really isn't bad. Some people doubt I'll like them, others say I'll love them. I guess I'll just find out, and go on from there.

Anyways, I'm still up for some Konis. ;)

For what it's worth, Jeff Ireland told me that his own car has IE3 springs and bilstein sports on it.

I'm in on the GB reguardless of price... waiting with money in hand (err... account)... they will go nicely with my H&R Sports which RAISED my car 1.5"... try a J-stock suspension (springs and inverted shocks) on the streets daily then talk about a race suspension... and be ready to replace every bushing on the car, shock mounts, swaybar links AND mounts, motor mounts, and most likely the entire subframe VERY quickly... IE 3's should be fine so long as you dont plan on doing any 4-wheeling and make sure and keep an extra set of shock mounts lying around ANY TIME you go to an aftermarket suspension... they break on E30's very easily... if you can afford it, save up and buy billet aluminum shock mounts WITH your new suspension... THEY ARE WORTH IT!!!

IE only deals with one out of Bilstein and Koni. Take a wild guess which one it is. ;)
