You can see just how much pressure is created at speed, with fiberglass hoods that are only pinned at only 2 spots in the front:

looks more like the car is twisting but you could ask one of the two guy in here that have had these in wind tunels.

Not because all the air wanting
to come out of the engine bay.

      That's just IMO.
      agreed

Most e30 race cars that are permitted by class, will block off the grills. The best way to reduce air getting under your car is blocking off the front and ducting any openings, and getting the car lower to the ground.

Are you taking that corner backwards? that's about the only way hood would bow like that from air pressure.

In any case, holes in hood must be vented or diffused. Atmospheric pressure will force air down the hole and at speed, it will turn out to be a WHOLE LOT of air. That air will bounce into your strut towers, fire wall, and eventually go into transmission tunnel, where it will try to lift the car like it's on a monorail.

GTR was very well engineered, those weren't just holes.

As far as looks go, though, looks awesome.

Venting the hood works very well ... but only if you seal off the bottom of the car.

It will suck air down into the low pressure area above the boundry layer rather blow air up if the sub engine compartment is open to it.... At least if you are hauling ass.

I don't know about all racing groups but sealing off the engine bay in ANY class in club racing is illegal. At the most a mod car can have the axel forward blocked off

Is there an under tray "kit" out there, or
is this a totally custom type of thing?

This is the way it's done on the e46 CSL:

Not very practical for the e30... That bonnet cost about $3000...

And the engine sits almost in your lap.

                  thats the e92 m3 not a e46 csl fyi

The hood scoops are intended for rad cooling. The ducts keep the air going through the rad and no where else. That rad is dropped at an angle and doesn't have a fan since its a race car.

Yeah... You're correct, I aparently have the image names mixed up on the site.

                    Still a perfect example though...

yeah you are right. The e46 csl and e92 m3 have those holes in the hood for the same reason ;)

You should make ducting from the rad to the vents also and I would be down...

Very interested, but don't want to buy something
that doesn't fit right like a VIS hood.

                                Thanks for the reply.
