FYI the matte black wheels are now coming in a semi gloss black finish. It's what we wanted the original batch of wheels to look like. They just recently mixed this color, and it's far superior. It's more like the black you see on an O.Z. wheel instead of almost a primer black ;)

        Eddy,
is it possible to get the plain centercaps like these, or do we have to get the apex caps??

also, the semi gloss black finish looks like it has some flaws (the 2 specs on the spokes)...

Those are not ARC-8 wheels. they are some random set of wheels that were hand painted different colors for color testing. The flaws (something that got into the hand painted booth) do not reflect the wheels that are being produced and machine painted in a clean environment).

Matte black won't be available, and I can hands down say that anybody that saw booth finishes in person would be EXTREMELY happy with the change. People know me for never exaggerating anything. company's throw around the name "matte black", and the black we had originally was damn near a chalk board grey. any oils showed up on it. finger nails left marks. The factory didn't warrant that finish at at, and it was simply damaged by regular use (just mounting a tire on it scuffed it up bad. it might as well have been primer.

This new black is what you see on wheels like O.Z. It's still not a gloss. I've never seen wheel company make a wheel that was as matte as our first run. So for those looking matte black. THIS is the actual finish you're looking for.

Here's an example of just how "matte" these still are compared to gloss black and the "official" matte black

Semigloss is better. A friend of mine had some wheels powdercoated matte, like above... But he hated em after a while and had them redone semigloss... looked better, was easier to clean, didn't blemish as easy... like he already said

Exactly. If you saw them side by side, you would NEVER want the matte/flat finish. it's truly like a chalk board.

The center caps are not metal. They're plastic just like the bmw oem ones.

the 4 lug wheels obviously have a smaller centerbore so they also use a smaller cap. They will come with the apex logo pre-installed on them like all our wheels. The ones without anything on them were from samples before the logo was run through it's own production line. You can either run without them, run the apex cap, over lap that cap with something else, or run an oem cap.

I helped a friend out who produced an alpina replica wheel, that was made by rota, and those caps perfectly accepted the oem bmw roundel sticker (no need to purchase the full cap assembly). I'll check if that part number will work.

This is round #3 of the 17x9" groupbuy. I'll have to check tomorrow to see how many Australian customers there are. two of them have elected to ship their e30 m3 wheels out asap via pallet.

I take it there is still not much news from the factory on the E30 4-lug fitments?
