My group buy wheels are already in the basement. Didn't get much time on the car, but I didn't wanna buy another set of tires for the winter. The bottle caps went back on

Hey guys long time no chat.....mine are still sitting in the living room.
Been going through some serious things over the past 3 weeks, but I'll be ready to mount these up soon.
Not sure on the tire size though. I was pretty set on 205/40/17 (car has 195/60/14 now) mainly because of possible rubbing out back. I don't want to touch the fenders at all. I have been down that road :???:.
ngcreese has me liking the 215/40 Yoko's on there, but I wonder how close they are to those rear fenders....E30- 1989 325is

Ngcreese, you edited that post I think. I didn't see the pics before. How are the roundels for the wheels? I'm still debating ordering a set.

215/40/17 Yoko S.Drive will give you zero rub, lock to lock in the front and zero rub on the rear wheelHey guys long time no chat.....mine are still sitting in the living room.

wells. And basiclly won't be over stretched on your 8" wide rim. You'll find rear clearance pics further down the thread. BTW, hope all is better with you now.
Whatup B.
The 58mm BMW roundels worked great, got my set from Bavauto, Paintpro21 posted the part number, earlier in this thread. You'll also see the part number clearly on the baggie in this pic...
The roundels are a go. The only real question for me was,
A) pop out the APEX roundel and replace it with the BMW roundel...
B) just affix the BMW roundel on top of the APEX roundel.
The BMW roundel's adhesive back is realllllly sticky. The APEX roundel is also reeeaaalllly sticky and I was kind of worried that I'd break the cap in two, before that APEX roundel came off... so B) won out, in the end.
heheh.. I've gone as far as inquiring if Paintpro21 sells blank center caps... no luck there... :|
BTW he does sell the BMW Roundels on the APEX site... here.
Looks pretty good on the wheel... and yeah, I picked up a full set of new black wheel lugs today. :P

Any body else get these mounted? Some Satin black and Anthracite wheels went out too :)Comment

I'd like to see the satin ones... I'm pretty happy with the Hyper Black, but I'm a sucker for black wheels...

It will look sick.... If I had a white car, I would order satin in a HEARTBEAT.

I got some passenger side rear fender clearance pics. BTW, why am i walking around with a camera in my pocket now?? :P
This pic was taken on the last day of dry/warm weather here in MD... just hanging out with the wife on a random day off.

And these were taken on the first days of cold/wet weather here...
It seems I do have a slight fender roll starting from the top of wheel well arch and going towards the rear of the car.
Moved my fingers about an inch and a half, along the wheel well arch, towards the front of the car. You should be able to see where the roll starts, to the left/above of my fingers (where the image gets darker in the wheel well gap).
Looking up into the wheel well, from below, you can really see where my slight fender roll starts. This was done before I owned the car and to be honest, I don't think it's playing into the 215/40/17 clearance in the back. If anything... this is going to give "I told you, you should have gotten 235s...", ammo to Bishop and Ryan... :P
...and yep I like the fully black bolts.
Quick post review after a week and 500 miles of DD'ing.... man, this wheel and tire package feels great! Wonderfully smooth at ...speed. Nice and plush rolling over bumps and expansion joints. No harsh jarring feeling on this setup. I've gotten nothing but compliments from my work colleagues and family. Important point, check your shocks and shock mounts if you have any sense of harshness with your current wheel setup, before putting these 17s on. Both of my rear shock mounts were completely broken/torn and I had no clue until White325is pointed it out to me, while I was at his shop getting my ride checked out.
Enjoy!!Last edited by ngcreese; 10-16-2009, 08:02 AM.1991 325i
