... What you are saying is that it is the principal of the thing, I get that.

However, no matter how principled you believe yourself to be, this is a small and petty move... One that could easily be predicted from the conversations leading up to this small and petty dispute.

99% of the population would detect it long before selling you anything.

Ray I beleive you are making this out to be a much bigger issue. While I understand your point of veiw considering the principle of the matter, you are willing to show zero compromise over a extremely minor issue.

The wire is indeed for the oil sending unit and is frail on every E30 I have worked on and I have replaced several of them simply to prevent a failure down the road.

You simply cannot reasonably expect to get a used 20 year old wiring harness in mint condition with zero damage. Even if the seller made this claim he may have not even see that part of the harness when he made his claim. Its a very small oversight on his part and does not deserve the harassment you are dishing out over this issue.

If you want a perfectly mint condition wiring harness then DCColegrove has what you need. Obviously it has a significant additional cost but it will be exactly what you are looking for.

Otherwise in the end you get what you pay for. Considering the sellers health issues maybe you could show some mercy and forgive him for this minor oversight.

      Take Care,

Seems to me it's less work to fix the connector than to box it up and take it to the Post office, let alone create this thread & also ship it back.

Maybe we could create a fund to get it fixed for you?

Hmm, so let me get this straight, by inaccurately listing an item and selling it to another individual under a certain pretense Robert falls into an alleged 1% category of individuals who get stomped on? This makes sense, you might be on to something.

Thank you for the role you've played in this, you'll have to excuse me if I can't find the sense in taking pointers from an individual such as yourself on issues of condescension and being principled.

            Hey Rob,

Good to see you posting on R3V more frequently. I see what you are trying to outline with respect to my uncompromising nature on this issue. This is not the first time I have bought used or "old" wiring, hence why I am so adamant about finding out the condition of the item prior to purchasing. I also see your point on just assuming that something will always be faulty with these things even despite the advertised condition, I'll admit, I assumed more than I should have based on the listing and private messages (I will not do this again). This issue very well woulld have never been escalated had there been a lack of insistence on the seller's behalf that the item was shipped in tact even despite evidence proving otherwise. I might be more or less "principled" than I think I am, but to me the acknowledgment or acceptance of a problem initially goes quite far in expediting a resolution, not just "hey that happens a lot, here's a quick fix" type of thing. The seller still maintains that the item shipped in tact, so unless there is a mass conspiracy going on with the US postal service where they are opening packages and removing selected items only to be resealed, I can't see how this can be maintained.

To the issue of mercy for the seller due to his medical ailments, I already transmitted a donation on top of the agreed purchase price initially, I would not even dare think of asking for this back as cancer has been as I have had my share of experiences with cancer.

You're a real piece of work....

20 year old wiring harness, paid $75 shipped, one broken connector.... expected like new condition. (does that basically sum it up?)

I could understand if it arrived, cut in half, spliced missing relays, etc.... But one connector falls off? and you're complaining? trashing this guys name? asking for a refund?

For all we know, you pulled it off....

You sound like a grade "A" asshole....

I still see it as an oversight,

Im sure Robert would have mentioned it if he had known to avoid this kind of feedback

Did not expect "new" condition, just for it to be complete as advertised.

Yes it was an oversight, I just don't see why this can't be admitted.
