Fellow E30 owners,

In your opinions, is it worth getting an e36 or e46 or z3 donor car to do a complete m5x/s5x swap?

I'm thinking that it is if nothing else I'd get better peripherals like 5 lug swap, with better brakes, steering rack, maybe interior stuff, better wheel/tire combos, etc.

I understand that all of this material that i'm asking for is pieced together somewhere...

I definitely think so depending on the deal. I got a m52 e36 with ews issues for $800 with 70k miles and it made the swap a lot easier because i got the mount arms that I need, the longer wiring harness ect and I knew the engine was good. Plus i have a ton of extra parts that I can sell to make money back like the 5 speed swap stuff. Just keep an eye out on craigslist.

Yeah, being able to run the engine's really reassuring, especially when it WON'T start
after the swap.

And then there's the unmitigated joy that is stripping a car!
