The state does not want our cars on the road anymore, so they will limit supply and you won't be compliant unless you find a good used unit.

You can buy out of state or a friend from a other state can buy for you. That what had to do.

apperently they want the cats to be even more "low emissions " than what they originally where

but still need the CARB number.... if they got the CARB number they can ship to cali right?

and all the ones with the OE CARB number we need are unavailable......at least magnaflow

I found walker cats 81101 for $300 each...

Do you mean that the bolt-in Magnaflow cats are NLA, or the CA-compliant weld-in ones? If the weld-in ones are going away, then I need to go talk to my guy and buy a couple to keep on hand. I've had 2 Magnaflow weld-in ones in the last ~12 years, CA-compliant, and never had an issue with SMOG.

Well crap, it certainly seems to be the case that none of them are available anymore. I guess I will have to cross my fingers and hope that the one in there now lasts a while, an that CA reinstates the rolling 25+ year exemption forward again someday (year, right). If not, then SMOG is going to start getting very expensive for me...

Magnaflow is no longer listed on the ARB site. (https://ssl.arb.ca.gov/AftermarketParts/catalysts)

However, Walker is. You can use Walker 81133 for 6 cyl cars.

FWIW, I've used various Walker cats on a couple cars and have never had issues with passing smog (either mechanical or legal)

Thanks, I am going to see if I can buy a couple and sit on them in case they are needed in the future, although all the BS with the serial numbers and the ARB changing its mind might make it a waste of money. For reference, the listed one for the E30 M42 is Walker #81127.

                              I went with walker 81101,

                              cheaper than the funky-looking 81133

im sure they will comeback... it looks like CARB wants Magnaflow to remove the "higher flow" and "performance" reference from their cats.. but I want this M50 stroker swap over and done with ASAP
