No Head Lights after m50 swap.

so after i finished my swap i noticed i have no Headlights. i checked fuses, all good. audible clicking of both relays. i assume switch is good seeing as i have tail lights. any ideas?

also i noticed my heater wont blow hot air. i think my hoses are laid out as follows
line from front of engine is going to the upper line on the chassis.
the line off the rear of the motor is going to the lower line on the chassis.
    backwards?

idk. thanks for the help in advance.

You missed a wire that needs to be hooked up on the starter.
I think its the black with green line...

The unloader circuit is permanently unloaded.

I don't have the specific wiring information with me, but theory of operation is that a number of high-load items are controlled by the "unloader relay" and are disconnected when you engage the starter. The relay is only supposed to get power when you engage the starter.

I would start by DISCONNECTING that wire at the starter and seeing if those systems come back.

I would start(and end succesfully) by GROUNDING that wire and seeing that those systems came back :)

EDIT: after that unloader relay wouldn't unload ever again, but I see no trouble with that.

EDIT2: grounding the black/yellow wire on starter causes a massive SC.

does anyone know why the great minds at BMW did that? why not just ground through the chassis like everyone eles? its the only thing i found odd in bmw design so far.

The unloader relay is used to cut auxilary items suchs as mentioned while the starter is running.

Grounding the black/green wire makes the unloader relay stay closed whole time, so those items will work even is starter motor running.

So the wire is not for grounding, the starter grounds the unloader relay when the starter is not running.

I see no big trouble "bypassing" the unloader, the early e30's don't even have unloader relay.

You could also bypass the unloader relay (K5 in fuse box) by removing it and placing a suitable jumper wire between terminals 30 and 87.
