M50 pan not fitting on M52TU?

Hey all, new to the forum. I actually am 24v swapping an e21, but the e21 forums are practically dead. similar setup anyway.

So to get to it. I have a m52tub25 out of a z3 I picked up really really cheap. seems to be in good shape mechanically. Today I finally picked up an e34 m50 pan. and was excited to get it put on and get the engine test fitted in the car. However I ran into a little issue, the oil pan doesn't seem to clear the windage tray on the m52. I can't find any mention of this issue anywhere else, it just won't fully seat onto the block and something is holding it up on one side. The pan is off a 1995, so it doesn't have the riveted in windage tray. TIA for any help, just getting into the wonderful world of m5x!

I wonder if it hits those triangular reinforcement pieces or the bolts for them, hitting the bosses on the pan from where the windage tray would've gone?

Before I went back and reread your post, I wrote something about removing the windage tray because that issue is really common lol
