    PS delete a good idea?

I'm finally getting serious about an s50 swap and have been thinking that Silence's ps delete block might simplify things. Less stuff in engine bay = more space = better.

Would this do much to help me/simplify or is it irrelevant?
    thanks

You could loop the hoses for free.

I have no p/s in both cars and love it. It's not for everyone though.

Same here. I don't even notice it anymore.

on a car this light is it really so noticeable?
would a 95 m3 rack have a similar feel with out ps?

i have a 95 m3 rack and no ps. i made a block similar to silences, and drilled and tapped one of the banjo bolts for a grease zirk. i put a couple pumps of grease in there and its smooth as butter. i cant even tell i dont have the ps anymore.

I didn't have PS for a few months because I couldn't get a pump for the M54. wasn't an issue unless I was parallel parking or something. Best thing was that my wife couldn't drive it.

I didn't think that grease in the rack would make it even easier. I would definately do it with a stock e30 rack, my e36 rack was slightly to quick for it.

I like the idea but I have still yet to bring myself to do it. I would like to test someones PS delete then I can decide based on "feel". I once had the belt off while the m20 was still present and the car felt much more predictable. I dunno about a swap'd car though..

Are there any cons as a result of doing this mechanically? Will the rack suffer any possible issues? I already have no a/c so less weight is a huge plus.

Getting the P/S hoses hooked up is very simple and I would definitely recommend it, especially if you're planning on autocrossing the car. Adding the M3 steering rack is a great upgrade too while you're at it.

I've got an e36 rack already (its a nice upgrade) and I do plan to do some autocrossing.

It would be nice to clean up the engine bay some for swap purposes, but I don't want to regret it later.

I think I'll leave the ps in place for now.
                      thanks

I autocrossed my e30 '95 m3 rack with no PS. I thought it was going to be annoying, but I didn't even notice it. I will be re-installing it though. Street driving is way easier with it.

I've got the z3 rack and am using the PS delete block from Silence, and I like it. My car's a track only car. On a street car, I'd probably keep the power steering.

If you're on the street, I would keep the PS. Obviously, it's mostly personal preference. If your reasoning is just to simplify things, I would keep it. Parking and slow speeds would get really annoying really quick. E30s run small front tires so it isn't that big of an issue but going to a tighter rack like an E36 rack would make it more difficult to turn, then say the stock steering rack. Might just be my opinion but I like to work out at the gym, not while driving.

Yeah i agree with the reasons for keeping it, but i've had the thought roll through my head lately. Main reason being one (or more) of my power steering lines have a leak, and I don't feel like spending the money to fix it. So free PS delete is sounding pretty appealing at this point.
