We got the transmission bolted on today. NOT an easy job with the engine already in the car. We had to use 3 feet of extensions and 2 universal joints to get to the upper bolts. I wanted to drop the engine and tranny in already bolted together but Pops had a different approach. It took a while but we're 1 major step closer to driving this thing :) No pics, sorry.

also, Mattdk318i's modified transmission bits do a great job of aligning everything. The shifter sits great and its nice to have plug and play parts. I highly recommend.

Yeah, every engine job I have been a part of in an E30, we have pulled or installed the engine and tranny as one piece. Glad you were able to make it work!

We took the m20 and tranny out together. The clearance was very tight even with the head off of the m20 and the radiator out. My Dad wasn't excited about trying to wiggle the s50 and tranny in together. Reaching those top transmission bolts is retarded, though. Next time, they'll be bolted together.

I hope to be driving this thing pretty soon!! Then I'll ad to my thread "how badass is an e30s50?"
              :)

I put an S50 complete with everything on it (even the intake) and a 6 speed together.

You can put an S50 with a 5 speed in no problem.
