S50 swap using M50 Harness with E30 factory plug?

I know that it is common to make an adapter to connect the OBDI harness to a E36 body side then to an e30 engine side and then to the E30 body side but is there a reason that I can not cut the OBDI harness and tap it into a E30 engine side and then plug into the E30 body side? The reason I ask is I want it yo look as factory as possible.

you can do that, or better yet, get a new plug and pins from the dealership. just repin it according to the e30's wiring and you'll be good to go

I did what you did and it works fine.

In the end, its up to you.

Some people make an adapter in between,
Some people get a new plug and pins,
Some people splice the old plug onto the e36 harness.

      Whatever your most comfortable with.

I had a conversion plug for about a year. Worked great. Then I just wired the e30 plug onto the M50 harness like you said, still works great, looks better. No reason not to, are we planning on swapping the motors back into e36's??

I did the same. It's a lot cleaner than having a bulky adapter harness.
