Will this intake throw off the MAF?

I bought a filter that was a little to big and I had to make it fit, now i feel that the angle of the boot coming off of the MAF is going to throw it off and give a wrong reading. I have some pictures,

I have never had a M50 but your safe. Reading that I thought that you had a hose connected to the MAF and running somewhere.

I wasnt sure because i have been told that it had to be a straight piece of piping before the MAF.

That setup is better then having it directly on the filter. The key with a cone setup is to put a decent distance between the filter and the HFM, so that the reading isn't thrown off by excess turbulence.

I used to run the filter directly on the HFM, and noticed a nice difference in throttle response and torque by moving the filter further away. Here is a pic of my newer setup:

In order to give me the most room, I used the ASC throttle boot instead. This allowed me to bring the HFM closer to the throttle, and the filter further away. I also have my high beam deleted for better air-flow.

I had to cut my my throttle boot down a little to get that filter in, I may look into getting the one you said. The thing was that so many people talk about MAF problems I thought that I may get a turbulence problem with that boot.

The turbulence occurs between the filter and the HFM, which is why putting the filter directly on it is bad. The throttle body and tps have no issues with the HFM being closer. It really does inprove the drivability of the car.

A nice feature of the ASC throttle boot is that it fits perfectly around the 3.5" hfm! No need for a reducer.

does the ASC throttle boot have the 2 vacuum holes for the ICV and PCV hoses?

No it only has only one as pictured above. I have my vacuum plumbing set-up to work with that.

hot air intake is a go.

if you don't have ABS you can fit the stock e36 intake.

I would like to havea set up like that too. What exactly is a ASC boot? Meaning what car does it come off of?
