The no brake booster would cause quite the vacuum leak ;)
Glad you got it running now get it finished man!

Got her started tonight!!!! At first it didn't stay running, think it's little vacuum issue. I know a couple places that I neglected to put hose clamps on and my throttle body is missing one screw. forgot to order one when i ordered my other stuff, oops.
Started it again later and it stayed on, doesn't respond to the throttle too well though. Aside from a vacuum leak, I'm thinking I either have the wrong plug in the TPS, or I need to check my TPS values and set it right.
For some reason I feel like my tps wire was plugged in on the traction control sensor part of the tb when I received the motor, but the only other 3-prong plug I can see is the ICV one - and I'm pretty sure I have that right.
Anyway, feels good to hear it run. Have to take care of the booster tomorrow, I had a lot of troubles today with it trying to cut and re-thread it. It came out like shit and I think I'm going to try and have somebody weld it up tomorrow. Hope to God that a weld will be strong enough for the lever forces when braking. Anyone think it's a bad idea?Leave a comment:

So close to getting this started and I'm stuck on a stupid booster issue. Rented a tap/die set from autozone since my unreliable friend didn't come through with his... only to find out it's a re-thread set - to fix damaged threads only, not to cut new threads. fml.Leave a comment:

yowza. gonna hit your thread, see if you cleared it up yet.
Gathering the last bits yet, don't plan on starting it until it's ready to roll, so it's going to be a few more days. In the meantime, here is what showed up today :)

Yes I did. Drove great! Trans/diff/clutch all feel good. A quick stab of the throttle in 1st at 3k sent the ass end moving.
But it's burning a bunch of oil so I'm hoping it's the PCV valve (if it's valve guides/rings I'm going to completely flip out) and I've got a coolant leak under the intake manifold and soft brakes.
I'm taking it to the shop tomorrow to have them fix the little issues that I've run out of time to do. We close on a house Friday and I need this thing done.
And thats what I really want. When this car is done, I am putting all my money away for a house. I need one. Congrats on that too man.Leave a comment:

congrats dude! drive it yet?
Hope not either. It's high temp multi purpose grease. (and cardinal to match my interior keke)
ran into some speedbumps yesterday. No fpr was one, and i definately need to redo iX booster and remove spacer. The way it sits now, I can't access the second hole underneath my throttle body intake boot becauase the master cylinder sticks out so far forward. Since I'm staying obd2, I need to use the obd2 intake air temp sensor. I'm going to stick it in the boot and need that second hole. You obd1 guys can just re-use your sensor thats threaded into the mani.
So by removing the booster spacer, it should give me PLENTY of room for the manifold and give good enough room for my intake boot. Might as well do it the right way, as much as I wanted to avoid re-threading the rod :???:
Going to just try and make sure everything will be ready for first start tomorrow. Initial plan was to start it to see if it works, then redo some things that needed to be done. Now it will be prep it till it's ready, dont start it until it's she's ready to drive. Hopefully dealer has everything in stock, otherewise it'll be another couple days added to the wait...Leave a comment:
