    Quieter muffler

My E30 have stock headers, E36 M3 mid section and those two small Magnaflow mufflers.

This setup sounds nice but it's way to loud for my taste. I'm looking for a quieter muffler with a nice but not to loud sound. What are you suggesting ?

are you running a cat? if you are you can always add a resonator after it to quiet things down.

Yup I have an E36 M3 cat. I'm not sure a resonator would quiet is as much as I'm wanting. I was thinking of a stock E36 M3 muffler but I found they're heavy and a pain to fit.

Stromung or Supersprint are nice but a little pricey

        Heavy. Yes.
Pain to fit. Just a little bit.

But the exhaust tone is excellent. Some growl but no rasp or drone. I love mine with OB2 headers and OB2 cats.

i used to have an e36 m3 exhaust on my car. it did not fit very well. it was OK during normal driving and sounded awesome at WOT. now i have a custom exhaust (2.5in single to a magnaflow something) and while overall it is quieter and sounds better during normal driving, i hate the raspiness of it at high RPMs in low gears (1st-3rd). the rasp is so loud and so high pitched that it hurts my ears, and that is not pleasant.

Is the E36 M3 exhaust (mid pipes and cat back) difficult for an muffler shop to fit in E30 or just for DIY'ers?

I am strongly considering buying used mid pipes (w/cats) and cat back/muffler from E36 M3 for $175 - is this a decent price?

Any idea what I should expect an muffler shop to charge for installation?

            Thanks for any info.

I have a single tip Ansa on my 318i and to be honest, it's fairly close to stock, just a bit more of a low rumble.

I read that Ansa mufflers rot in no time. Is it true ?

I'm now looking for Supersprints since I read they're quiet but deliver a nice sound at WOT. Their application mufflers are pricey but their universal ones not so much. The only downside is they're not offering them with 2 inlets.

Do you think I can use a ''Y'' pipe before the muffler and fit an universal one ? (edit, I don't think so, the bigger inlet they're offering is 2'')

Ok, so what are the good -not too loud- cat-back mufflers on the market ?

I'm looking for Supersprint since they're quiet and well constructed.

Should I take an E36 muffler

                          or the cheaper E30 M3 muffler ?

Sorry to threadjack, it's sort of on-topic.
Would an e36 328is supersprint muffler fit on a 325i?
