    s50 swap issues??

Hey. I am new to this forum, and I was wondering if anyone has had the troubles I am having doing this swap. The s50 is in and the harness seems to be done, but the car has no spark. I have fuel and power, just no spark. Also, when I hook up the peake scanner, it does not give me a reading, it just flashes E. My ecu is good, ews should be disabbled, 506 chip is installed. If someone can please help me out that would be great.

well still no luck. I believe that the computer isn't sending out any info, so now I have to check the pins that have to do with that. Again, if you have any info that might help, I would really appreciate it.

did you clip the ews wire on your harness? Assuming you are using a silver 413 with a 506 chip.

If the computer sees a crank position sensor. It will spark. As long as a couple things are going on.

        A) EWS is disabled
        B) you have a CPS signal
        C) your ECU has correct power through harness x20 and in harness near fusible link.

        Check all those things.

          True all ^^

I had mine sparking while it was still on the stand. Connected a battery charger to the + cable, generated a crank signal, it was sparking. That's all it needs.

ews 1 will disable fuel AND spark so if you're getting one, you should be getting the other unless something's not connected right.
            No more e30s for me.

I wired up everything again according to akg motorsports diagram, and still nothing. I don't have fuel or spark. I would imagine it probably has to do with ews. I cut pin 66 on ecu, pin 7 on harness connector, and have the 506 chip. ecu is a 413 silver label. CPS is getting power, also switched it out, and nothing. Just my luck. If worse came to worse, I was going to try a harness off of a 94 525I, assuming thatthe ecu will work on it.

You should recheck your wiring, don't rely on pinout charts made by other people, get the wiring diagram for you vehicle and then get a diagram for the donor vehicle which the engine came out of. And create your own pinout for your specific swap.

Ahh, finally got it to start. My problem was a green wire that got power along with pin 21(e36 connector). I hooked that wire up with pin 21 and everything worked from there. Thank you guys for all the help. I love this site!!:D
