    S52 swap LSD

I was wondering what ratio would be good for a S52 swap? I have a guy looking to trade me a 2.93 for some stuff I have laying around.

ZF, the ratio is 2.79-3.25, so the 2.93s is good right?

I have a set of BBS basket weaves and I am selling them. A guy contacted me and offered me a 2.93 LSD, ICV, cluster with 116k, and the 325is sun visor motor cover, converted my crank

2.93 is tall. Real tall. The E36 turbo guys run that rear end with ~500 whp.

The OEM differential range for the S52 is 3.23 for the manual and 3.33 for the automatic.

          The S50 included a 3.15 for a manual M3.

          I went with a 3.46 out of an E24.

It's been mentioned on Bimmerfest. We just need to do a sticky with gear charts with ratios.

No offense to you it's just been on here quite a bit lately.

Yeah, I know, I looked around a ton. Could not find anything on what I wanted. Just thought I would ask some people who knew.

I have a guy that makes 260 tranny mounts. Does anyone here know if these look right if not where do I get them. I need a link on a S52 swap too! I don't want to bore anyone

Its not really that bad, its comparable to a 3.73/g260 or close to stock 328i. if the car sees much highway i say nothing higher then 3.25, and if its a DD i would lean towards a 2.93.

Doing an S52/6-speed swap and I am using a 2.93 lsd because it will see a lot of highway driving. Hoping to get low rpm and good mpg.

What a waste of a 6 speed swap. You can afford to go with shorter gearing with a 6 speed since it has the OD gear. If you get a 2.93 you will never need to go into 6th unless you want to cruise 70 at 1.5k or less. On top of that, it will take you longer to get into peak power-band with such long gears. You should get at least a 3.25 if not a 3.46 to take advantage of that extra gear. ;)

To the OP, I'd say 3.25 or 3.46. I used to have a 3.25, but now have the 3.46. If I did more highway driving I would switch back, but I'll probably get a 6 speed soon instead.

What one is better? S50 or the S52 (install wise) Does the S52 use the ZF tranny? and is it a 6spd. I have known about the swap for 3 years now and just got the money to do it! That is what all the questions are about.
