F1 Racing Prolite flywheel s5x Advisory.

S50/2 engine, sachs disc, pressure plate, with ZF 320 5sp..

This is an advisory for any DIY types using this flywheel.
It is a nice looking chromoly 16Lb unit.
    The price is good...the "bay".

The problem with it is that it pushes the clutch disc about 3.5 mm further back towards the transmission.

Coincidentally, the throwout bearing guide tube has an id of a smidge more than the nose of the Sachs clutch hub.

When you use this flywheel, you end up with the guide tube "swallowing" 3-3.5 mm of the disc hub.

The car will turn over/ start then die right away.

Your attempts to restart will be met with a heavy clunk as the tube and disc have welded themselves together.
Of course the engine is locked in both directions.

You'll have almost as much fun as I did, trying to separate the conjoined engine/trans assembly.

That is why I risked buying it :?.
Otherwise I was looking at the major LTW Vendors.

Btw, I have quite a bit of experience, so I was pretty tee'd at this failure.
I don't believe my engine would have remained running.Fuel pump sitting for 3 years.
There's a chance that with an eager to start engine and a big battery and some throttle, it would machine itself some clearance.

I recall reading about one of the cheap ebay flywheels requiring you to install the clutch disk backwards, is it this one, and did you install it regular or backwards?

                      Interesting.
The backwards install would cause the clutch disc hub to contact the flywheel.
Asking the customer to install parts in a manner that they were not designed for is just too sorry.
They failed to measure the depth of their flywheel...Very basic procedure....Lazy gits.
I believe that when you install the disc in its correct orientation it also supports the input shaft of the trans correctly, in conjunction with the pilot bearing.

                      Oh well.
Just as long as people are aware of this problem.
