Okay a 85 with the m10 and m50 with 328I ZF, Drive shaft to install and I read in the search, Fred said that you need to change the CSB to a E30 Why. Do I order one for a m10 driveshaft ? Is the M10 and 328i driveshaft the same diameter?
Yes, you will need a CSB from an early model car, as the spacing changed for facelift E30s. The bearing is the same diameter between the E30 and E36, but the bracket bolt spacing that secures the CSB to the transmission tunnel is different.
Thanks Fred, So if I order a new 1985 318i CSB and take the 328i driveshaft to a shop , they should be able to change/ press the csb's for me , correct?
Yep! Just duplicate the orientation so the shaft stays centered in the transmission tunnel. I don't know what an early model CSB looks like, but there is definitely a correct and incorrect orientation to the late model CSB.
Thanks again Fred for schooling me , so I now know what to do. I will find a driveshaft shop and ask them to keep the change over the same,so it should be done the correct way .
