    S52 compression

    I am looking into a s52 for a swap

the one i found seller says that the compression is 230 psi +/- 5 psi cross al cyl

this seems high to me...but i dont know what the numbers should be

    can someone enlighten me?

it's more about the % difference between the cylinders, not the actual number. Every gauge reads a little different apparently.

Claiming 5% variance on all cyl is one thing. Its usually best to have a picture with the gauge in each cylinder showing the pressure.

You should put a leak down tester on it. You dont want to chance anything.

yea, i though leakdown was done when the engine is warm

does anyone know the correct compression # for an s52?

mine was in the 210's with less then 3% on each cylinder.

Leakdown can be done when the engine is cold or warm.

That is MASSIVELY high and probably an indication of a cold engine with a lot of oil squirted into the cylinders. I would not take those numbers as proof of anything.
