For the price that those kits sell for on BFC, I'd say just get a complete kit with tune.

However, if you can fabricate your own tubing and get a good deal on a Vortech head unit, then you can save some money there.

a week or two ago, i emailed white325is to let him know i had my bracket and supercharger mounted up on my car with a little modification. anyway, he asked me to post up a few photos of what i did, so here they are.

i have a 91 vert 318i. on my car the bracket had an interference problem with the abs pump. there were a couple of ways to address this problem, but instead of moving the abs pump i elected to modify the bracket a little so the supercharger would sit on the engine orientated more toward the passenger side of the car. there is enough room over there so it isn't an issue with clearance except for the dipstick and the evaporative emissions valve . the dipstick tube can be bent a little so it protrudes in front of the manifold and the evap valve and go most anywhere. you don't have to get fancy with auto cad and a cnc plasma cutter if you don't have it available to you. i suppose you could just put an 8" bowl or plate over the bracket to mark it, then use your jig saw. cutting aluminum that way would be a slow process because the metal is so soft it will load up the blade teeth. anyway, here are the pics. i made a 4" radial cut in the bracket in an area where it wouldn't conflict with any of the holes. then i welded it up after rotating the top piece about 1/2 inch toward the engine.

this is the clearance i now have from my abs pump. it is about 3/4th" or a tad less. on my car the interference was about 1/2" or so.

here is the clearance on the engine side. it is tight, but adequate. the diffuser can be rotated clockwise if you need more room. you have to be careful how far you move it because it is close to coming in contact with the hood when it is closed.

the bracket is a really good design. i think it is the best available for e30s, but there are a couple of things that bother me a bit as far as the mounting points are concerned. the only fastening points to the engine are the two mounting holes for the alternator. that is a lot of bracket to be sticking off the engine without a triangulation point. i can grab the end of the bracket and deflect it by hand about 3/8th". it really needs another mounting point for it to be sturdy. i still have to figure that out. as you can see from the photo below, the bracket is about 1/8th" forward of the alternator housing. if it were back against it it would help some. i could grind about 1/8th" off the top alternator mounting boss, but that might affect the alignment of the pulley. (i do not have a pulley at this time to check it). also, not pictured, but the upper and lower alternator mounting bosses are not in vertical alignment, so you will need a spacer for the lower that is about 5/8th" thick.

the bracket will move the idler pulleys too far forward and out of alignment of the belt, so they will need to be ground off on the back side about 3/8th" to bring them back in where they belong.

            No more runs..

As for the post above you, I dont know what you had to cut yours. I didnt have any clearance issues on mine?!?! Maybe it has something to do with your car being a vert or the motor mounts you are using?

I knew the idle pully wasnt going to work, I thought I had posted that in a previous post.
I think, but I do not know if I have the one from mine that I can pull the PN off of. I will check.

This might have been covered, but what rotation blower do you need? CW or CCW?

                  hey white,

don't get me wrong. i purchased this bracket knowing that it was made for an e36. i still think it is the best sc bracket on the market for e30's. i don't mean to rip on your product or crap on your thread in any way. my purpose is to simply show others how to make it work in the event they have the same problem i did. i really think you should consider producing more brackets. i will even be happy to send you my modified bracket for you to reproduce and sell. don't be discouraged. if you want to borrow it, pm me.

For anybody interested, mine is for sale. It has nothing to do with the seller or the quality of the product... Unfortunately I just can't afford to do this type of project right now.
