now that you have photos posted, that looks like an exceptionally good design. most sc brackets that i have seen run a separate pulley forward of the a/c pulley off the crank, thus causing an interference issue with the radiator. how much clearance do you have from the abs module? can you use the facelift/e36 style radiator with this?
bump for this answer on the abs :), i'm interested in the bracket
I didnt have time to check this weekend. I will try and get to it ASAP.. but from when I had the bracket mounted up last time I didnt see it being a problem.
Although I dont have ABS in my car either....
looks like i am going to want one with spacers too. my decision is pending the abs pump clearance issue. i just need to know that the two are compatible. if i have to move the pump over toward the driver side fender an inch or less, i can make that work. i just wouldn't want to remove it.
also, i spent some time perusing the vortech and paxton web sites tonight. you mentioned that this bracket should fit either compressor. are you sure? the mounting holes look like they will fit the vortech, but i'm not too sure about the paxton. this could be an issue in that there are superchargers for sale on local craiglist from both brands. it would suck to buy the wrong one.

what about a belt tensioner? also what direction of rotation is needed for the blower? do you have a part# of your vortec and I could give my local dealer a shout to see it they have any info about it and dealer cost for one.
Are motors spin clock wise so you will need a clock wise supercharger. Not many of them are for CCW.
For a NEW supercharger through Vortech your looking at about 2000.00. Vortech offers a trade in for old superchargers and they will give you 500.00 for your old unit and sell you a new one for about 1500.00
Heres a link for Vortechs site and it shows some info on the chargers they sell.

YA if it doesnt fit a Paxton Im out. They should have the same bolt pattern.
had the bracket custom made to fit the headunit. did all the measurements at home then gave it to a friend to have it cut down. the older paxtons and vortechs are different in size (paxton larger in size) even though nowadays i think they have the same bolt pattern and size spread. i went with the paxton because i was in the same boat as you and didnt want a powerdyne or wynjammer. and when i found this paxton for $700! i had to do it. if you want any measurements for the bracket i had made ill get them to ya. also a list of all the fittings and hoses im using
I'm not sure how common knowledge this is but Paxton and Vortech are under the same umbrella. I didn't realize this until I got my Paxton head unit back from rebuilding and it had Vortech packing tape on the box. After talking with Paxton/Vortech I now know that a Vortech S-Trim is the same as a Paxton 1200 and a Vortech T-Trim is the same as a Paxton 1500 with respect to bolt pattern, external and internal dimensions, impeller, etc. So if you hear someone say Vortech is better than Paxton or vice versa they are misinformed.
Paxton:
Novi 1200 - 1000 CFM
Novi 1500 - 1200 CFM
Novi 2000 - 1400 CFM
Novi 2200 - 1450 CFM
1000 CFM = 680 supportable HP
1200 CFM = 825 supportable HP
1400 CFM = 925 supportable HP
1600 CFM = 1200 supportable HP
There is some debate about the supportable horsepower numbers, some believe they are artificially low, but it's safe to say that more is better, to a point. So on paper the advantage would seem to go to ATI but one would need to look at the compressor maps to see which would be better for a given application, although thats impossible, see below.
Procharger compressor maps - Quote from ATI Tech Support - "Our engineers do not use compressor maps, we do all of our testing in real-world scenarios."
Gears
I'm sure everyone knows that Procharger uses straight cut gears which tend to make the "marbles in a can" sound, particularly at idle. Vortech/Paxton use helical gears which are much quieter and the helical gears prevent the gear backlash which is the source of the ATI marbly sound. I've owned a Procharger on my C5 and now have a Paxton on my C6 and much prefer the sound of the Paxton. All it has is a slight whistle.
Lubrication
ATI is strictly self contained. They do not make an oil fed version. Vortech and Paxton offer both so you can pick your poison. When comparing the self contained units its interesting is that Paxton/Vortech have a breather at the top to relieve pressure in the gear case. Procharger does not. I'm not sure which is better but it's worth noting. Something else to note about the Paxton/Vortech units is that they are meant to be laid with the transmission at a 45 degree angle. So if you were to fill the unit on the bench with the dipstick straight up it would be overfilled by 2-3 oz (4 oz being a full fill). It's meant to be filled and checked as it sits in the car. If it's overfilled oil will leak out of the breather something fierce. There are other Paxton/Vortech units meant to be laid at 50 degrees so if you pick one up at a swap meet it would be worth a call to find out which it is.
Also, for engine oil fed guys I would caution you to watch your oil pan level that it's not too high. I started out with a Novi 1200 oil fed and it started to make noise with <500 miles on it. I had it rebuilt and it came back good but then started doing the same thing in <500 miles. I talked with Vortech/Paxton support about it at length and sent them many pictures and videos and measurements. We never were able to definitively find the root cause but a theory was that the crank case oil level was at/near the same level as where the hole for the drain was tapped into the pan, blocking the drain at times causing oil to back up into the head unit and coke the bearings. I didn't see a place to tap any higher on the pan so I don't know what I would have done about it other than to keep a little less oil in the pan. It was easier to switch to the self lubricated and take the drain out of the equation.
I talked to my local vortech dealer today about buying just a head unit he quoted me on the new si v1 head units for about $1800, for a brand new unit w/warranty but depending on what configuration we need for it.
he also said he might be able to do a group buy for 3-5 units for a few hundred less

For the crank pulley you can use your stock pulley. There is companys that make different size crank pulleys for out cars.
Vortech has a calc on there site.

decreasing the size of the crank pulley lowers boost while decreasing the size of the s/c pulley increases boost

Just so you know the V1 has straight cut gears. will get VERY annoying if you drive this car every day as it is loud. Thats why most people stay witht he V2 and up.
Im just trying to supply the brackets so I will answer everything as best as I can as this is a learning experience for me as well.
So if you happen to find info. Post it up. From wha tI understand ESS made this bracket years ago. They used to work with Vortech and no longer do. I also believe RMS used this same bracket but then Osh made his own design.
