will an S52 replacement work for my S50?

I have an s50 in my cAR right now that has been blown and found an s52 to put in its place, i plan on purchasing it this week and was wondering if it would work between the two with the s52 OBD I conversion? thanks

yes it will. u will just need to port the s52 head for the temp sensors.

not 100% sure but i think with the obd1 conversion it is almost the same thing as a s50...feel free to correct me if im off my rocker

i need to port the s52 head? i was under the impression that they are the exact same head. i am going to swap the s50 intake to the s52 because the ports are much larger. i was wondering if the electronics and the chip i have will work for the most part?

He means you will need to bore and tap the head to install temp sensors.

Not necessarily, BTW: Turner makes an electrical Y cable you can use instead.

Also, early build s52's have the port for the temp sender already there.

it doesn't work in the e30 chassis despite what turner advertises

I have this adapter I doesn't send the correct signal to the gauge cluster. so u will have no temp gauge if u use this.

True early ones have the ports. My 99 had to be drilled.

most likely just bolt on all sensors, fuel rail etc to S52 from S50, tap coolant sensor in head (no hard at all) and weld up your 02 ports on the better flowing S52 manifolds or run reps. That should be about it. You will need a new tune too.

Oh! OK, I learned something. I guess the two sensors have different specs?

I use the Zionsville manifold so I didn't have to drill the head. Hose from head to manifold, spider hose to manifold. No TB circuit.

as stated above with the temp sensor. There's many solutions.

other than that. plug and play. The Racer's Market has a chip with good reviews to run the s52 with your current wiring/DME.
