Forum Friendly help diagnosing idle issues in/around Atlanta?

Is anyone in/around the Atlanta area available to help me diagnose the erratic idle in my car? It's getting pretty frustrating trying to heel 'n toe it through traffic.

    Running a OBDI s52 with a 540i HFM...

From searching through the various threads on this very topic, I know two common culprits are the gunked up ICV and the wire from the AC compressor to the DME. However, the erratic idle happens with the AC either on or off...

Just looking for a little experience to pull from... Thanks.

So have you checked the ICV? I'd also check your vacuum connections as a starting point.

Dad changed out the ICV out a week ago while it was in NC...with no success at evening out the idle. I wasn't there to check the condition of the 'new ICV'.

I'm going to take it out tonight and examine/clean it. Fingers crossed that it's as simple as that.

You should look for a vacuum leak also. Make sure you have all the ports on the manifold plugged or connected.

Do you have a chip for the 540 MAF?

Yep, chip accounts for the 3.5" MAF. I think it's Jim Conforti.
