S50 E34 Touring - Mobil 1 15W50 Red Top in the spring/summer/fall, Mobil 1 10W40 High Mileage in the winter

M50TU E30 - Mobil 1 15W50 Red Top all year round (garaged during the winter)

Here is an oil chart in the E34 section from bimmerforums. Not sure why you guys in the warmer climates would use anything less than 15W50.

At the dealer right now, they said 10w-30 regular or 5w-30 synthetic for anything prior to 99

Mobil Clean 5,000 (5k miles) 10w30... I'm afraid it will leak somewhere if I start using Mobil 1. I generally use Mobil 1 in everything, parent's car's and all my past vehicles. Will probably switch to synthetic once I go turbo
