75 psi once the oil was up to temp or when cold?

In my old life playing with 3 liter Duratec V6's 75psi on cold oil is fine. I would see upwards of 100psi until it came to temp.

ooohh.... well that explains. i really did not know what to expect. I was cold running up and down the street a couple times at barely any throttle. I didnt want pissed off neighbors. This is a loud engine on open headers.. as most of you already know.

        pics to come ; |

i'll do the bulk of my break in this weekend.

Where can i get a set of these? I need these for my M3 swap car. Also how tall are they? Stock e28 mount's E36 size or lower?

          They look great!

Glad your car is back running.

All i know is that it came out of a wrecked m-roadster with 115k miles. It had coilovers, sways, i/h/e and a tree in the passenger seat.

yes incredible.. seems like the sprocket may have jumped on and off. The splines are not damaged, but there is some scoring sorrounding the splines from the shaft.

this engine should be running again in under a month if my possibly unrealistic timelines work out. I hope most of you took care of this during your swap.. or that it encourages the rest of the 24valvers to take off their dresses and get into their respective oil pans.
You're such a fucking dork. "My work is all about engineering tolerances" Because all the monkeys who actually know how to build an engine plane the deck with a die grinder and use their arm as a torque wrench.

I am curious of the workmanship of your rebuild seeing you've never done it before.

im on the same page zach, I just got done reading this. The thought of my OPN being locktighted gave me a sour feeling in my gut.

I suppose i better install a Oil Pressure Gauge before i start having nightmares too. Does anyone know the actual oil pressure a S52 should be running at temp?

this is how they are mounted. they are cheap mookeeh gauges which i chose for having electric senders. i don't have enough runtime/data to give them a review. You can buy them on ebay and see how they look/operate on youtube.

they are about 1/4" lower than stock e28 mounts for the reason that they don't compress. They make my ebay headers clear the sway bar and an IX booster by more than my previous IE poly mounts. They do vibrate pretty hardcore. Since i paid to get them made, i'll be "accepting" some donations for the drawings. i'll pm you.

The spec is 0.5 bar minimum with oil at operating temp.

I'm in the same boat with my oil pump nut. Red loctite. I'll definitely be pulling my oil pan this spring and safety wiring it.

luis, i have also purchased some of those ebay gauges for use on various projects in the past. they are really cheap. less than 10.00 per. i know you won't be offended if i mention that they are kind of crappy. certainly better than nothing at all. if you don't want to spring for a set of vdo's, i would suggest the gauges they sell at your local harbor freight. i don't remember the name brand. they aren't vdos, but in my experience much better then those from ebay. at least the damn needles don't randomly fall off from baking in the sun. another benifit, they include the sending units when appropriate, have a good selection(oil pressure-electric and mechanical, oil temp, water temp, boost/vacuum, vacuum, volts, amps, and probably a couple of others i can't think of right now) the good news is that they cost 20.00 per gauge and include a sending unit in the package if required. once again, they are not german made vdo's but i think you will be much happier with them.

                            75PSI at idle. Jeez.

                            I was thinking 10 PSI.

You didn't use sealant on the sender right?

this is the sending unit that came with the oil pressure gauge. anyone know of a cheap place to get an adapter to mate this sender to the engine?
