Blue water temp sensor HELP please

I have a dilemma here that has been an issue since I bought this car 2 years ago. I just found out somewhat recently that this issue has been messing with my DME giving it the wrong info.

Someone previously tapped the cylinder head in both ports to a 14mm size. The blue water temp sensor for the s50 is 12 x 1.5mm and is therefore too small. My car has had a black cap sensor which I am assuming has a different resistance value than the blue one.

Any one know where I can get an adapter so that I can utilize the correct sensor? It would be 14mm x 1.5 Male to 12mm x 1.5 female to fit the 12mm x 1.5 into the cylinder head(14mm). I haven't been able to find any.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

They all go to 1/8 NPT I suppose I could tap one of those to a 12 x 1.5. As long as it didn't break.

no tapping necessary. time-sert makes the 14x1.5 to 12x1.5 for oil pans. google it.

The only one I can find is for "tin" pans only. I need an aluminum one. Care to enlighten me on where you found that one?

                      Appreciate the help.

I can't help with the threads, but I can attest to how the wrong sensor will mess with your DME. I just discovered my IAT has the wrong resistance and the correct one is making a HUGE difference in how it runs!

I have a kit on order from Timesert that should fix the problem. They were extremely helpful on the phone. I'll keep you guys updated on the install and how the car runs with the right sensor. It's supposed to arrive next week.

                          Thanks Jason for the tip.

Have you tried using a helicoil?

helicoils don't work that way. they won't have a coil to make a 14mm neck down to a 12mm. if the threads strip out of your 12mm hole, they will have a special drill bit, a special tap and an insert to repair the hole however.
