VIN on 24V engine?

Does the VIN appear on a 24V engine, and if so, where? I'm selling my E30/S52 & want to pull the Carfax to verify the mileage.

On the S52 it is one the rear(firewall) side of the head.

And depending on where you got the motor from some wreckers remover the sticker so you can't trace it back to the vehicle the motor was in.

There should be one on the back of the head as mentioned and another on the driver side of the block somewhere if I remember correctly.

I'm selling the car (maybe, if all I get is lowball offers, I'll drive it forever) and someone asked about verifying the miles on the engine. I thought a Carfax on the engine VIN would at least give a general idea.

If the DME is out of the same car as the engine it has the VIN on it also.
