With a 4.10, a redline eliminating chip should enable you to go 148 at 7000 rpm. The speedometer is WAY off in the upper range, so if it says you're going 130, you're probably going 122 or something like that.

I think it's a running out of puff issue. The E30 is shaped like a brick and you'll probably want to hit NOS at around 120 to get you through the school zone without incident.

lol i know the brike thing is an issue but idk its as if my throttle shuts closed at that speed its not like a gradual loss in speed its allll at once, im not sure where the chip is from it was in the ecu when i bought it, it has the carb eo number so im assuming its a legit RD chip

I'm with that too. It takes a lot to get an E30 past 130. I had my S50 car up to 150 once but that was under special, controlled circumstances and it took a lot of effort. With 60-ish less HP I have a hard time believing he could ever make it close to 150mph.

It's probably a burned chip that doesn't change things much and the stock speed limiter is still in effect. Once again, I have a hard time understanding why one needs their top speed limiter on a street car anyway. Even most of the tracks around don't need 125+mph cars unless you're running a lot more power...

Is it bouncing off the rev limiter, is the engine cutting out, or will the car just not go any faster?
Three things will make you top out at 130: Top speed limiter, gearing, or aero/power.
It cant be gearing, so its gotta be chip or you simply aren't making enough power to overcome the drag as has been stated.

Are you hitting a wall, e.g. power cuts out at ~130mph then cuts back at 120 or so? That's the speed limiter. If it's just a slow loss of pull, you're just fighting the wind.

you drive a shoe box shaped car. air and wind is the wall that you are hitting. my e30 gets to 120 really quick, after that, s52 or not, its slow to get to the mid 130s

like i said its not bouncing off the limiter its just an abrubt stop in acceleration i know its not the fyling brick thing because the car has not began to slow down at the speed i am hittin, but a bad chip is prob the prob now that has been said. not to say anymore past that speed it wont slow down but yea, thanks for the help
