2 Questions, motor mount shimming and oil level sensor

    1) Those who shimmed their motor mounts, what did you do about the tranny mounts? I shimmed the motor mounts to clear the E32 booster and, as expected, now I can feel my guibo trying to rip itself apart whenever I get on it. Longer tranny mounts maybe? The studs on the tranny mounts aren't really long enough to shim those too.

    2) Should there be a paper gasket around the oil level sensor or something? I took mine out because I thought it was shorting with something, then reinstalled at the "pretty damn tight" torque spec (used a little force but didn't want to shear anything) and left it, there was no gasket installed or anything. Now there appears to be a leak from the oil level sensor.

    Thanks in advance. :)

Don't have an answer for 1, but on 2 there is a rubber ring type seal for the oil level sensor, part number is 12611277129

My motor is all kinds of crooked. I have it shimmed on both sides of the motor and one side of the trans. I didn't do any measuring or aligning, I just made it so that everyhting cleared (booster, headers, etc...). It's been fine for over a year and 30k miles. I do have a slight vibration in 1st til about 5-10 mph if I try to accelerate hard from a stop, but that could be anything from my old CSB to bad bushings.

My driveshaft is even visibly crooked. There is a thread in here about it - you can see it in pictures even, it's probably 10 degrees off. I have no idea how or why, but at this point I don't really care.

So if you are chewing up drivetrain parts because you put some washers under your motor mount, I'd be surprised.

I've got M5 (E28) motor mounts, shimmed whatever 10 3/8" washers is, probably about 3/4". Stock G260 tranny mounts, tranny brace made by Mike (White325is) that seems like it lowers the tranny mounting points a bit, that would probably be fine but now that I've gone and further altered the drivetrain angle I think it's become a bit of a problem.

I don't think I'm chewing it up, but it feels like a bad guibo--vibration when I get on it hard from 5-40mph or so. The guibo is in perfect condition, it didn't do this before the swap. I just want the damn thing to accelerate smoothly when I goose it. One of the things I've always loved about this car is how smooth it is.

Nothing? What do people use for longer tranny mounts? I've got an order with Pelican Parts that's set to go except it's awaiting tranny mounts.

i shimed my engine 1/4" and mounted the transmission normally(zf320) works fine :)

3/4" shim is quite a bit difference? why so far?

I have only 1/4 of shims on the passenger side so my sway doesnt hit the exhaust. I have the e21 trasmission mount shimmed the same amount.
