no offense, but there are too many variables that you will screw up with what you propose. Get the ej knight skid plate and forget about it. The plate sticks down a certain distance anyway. Once that is installed, raising the engine or a low profile pan would be a moot point.
Does anyone make a low profile M50 oil pan?

RE: flat oilpan options
Yes, there is a great option for a very, very flat oilpan, but it would have to be used in conjuntion with a dry sump set up.
If you'd be interested in it, PM me, and I can hook you up.
I used one, and I hope the link works:
Admittedly this was on a S50B32, but the oilpans are identical in terms of gasket and fit etc...swap easily between M50 and S50 and the E34 one you'll probably end up with.
The images on the dry sump are not the complete and final version that did go in the car, so don't nit-pick too much...I revised a few things. Its also long gone, the pan is on JT's car now! (GOT PSI)

Shoot an email to Steve over at VAC Motorsports (sales@vacmotorsports.com I think) and tell him what you are looking for. He was mentioning looking into producing exactly this not too long ago.-Dave
