    M52 Power Steering

Im using the E30 rack with the M52 pump. one of the tubes connects up fine (the high pressure side) but the low pressure side is different. i know i can cut the hose and slip it on with a hose clamp, but id rather it bolt on, so my question, is this part:

...removable by unscrewing it? i dont want to go putting a whole lot of torque on it to get in undone if it doesnt, but it sorta looks like it does..?

    thanks, Andy

Twist it back and forth and it will pull out with no problem. I ended up throwing that pump in the trash and running no PS

The low pressure side runs at about 1/8psi. Just slip the hose over, it won't leak.

I have this same issue on my pump... the m52 power steering pump on my car has 1 barbed fitting (high presure) and host clamp style (low pressure). The problem on my car is that my e30 rack has two barbed fittings, one with a small adapter and one with a large adapter. The large adapter threads into the e36 pump, however, theat one is hose clamped to the power steering reservoir and not to the rack. This would connect the high pressure side to the reservoir. So, I can't figure out how to make my hoses or pump work. Either I get a different pump, or I get different hoses (don't know what to use).

          Any thoughts?

I havent traced the hoses, but have been told by a BMW nut that thats the low pressure side on the hose clamp. Ill have a look when i next work on the car. makes sence if you think about it, the bolt on is capable of far far higher pressure than a hose clamp, and so should therefore be the high pressure side. but if the threaded side goes to the reservoir then im not so sure..

Any resolution to this? What power steering hoses are people using? I get that you can just hose clamp the low pressure side, but which hose are people using for the high pressure? e30s? e36s?

Correct there aren't threads on it.

Sweet.. Got a local shop to take the end off of the large fitting and put it on my Power Steering line <--- good to go and hooked up, in the end the custom line cost me $32.00 bucks! Not bad!
