    iX booster options

Today while installing my iX booster I found that I had been missing info. Aftter doing some reasearch I found there are two options. Someone correct me if these are incorrect.

Option 1. Use booster with stock spacer. This would require a different booster, and remote res.

Option 2. Do not use spacer, and bolt booster directly to firewall. This would require you to drill new holes, the booster only has two, and they are closer. It would also require you to shorten the rod that connects to the pedal.

    Are those two options correct?

I have the same booster, planning on doing a remote res. if you go without the spacer, i would reinforce the firewall where you drill the new holes. also, you will have to shorten the rod that connects to the brake lever.

How would you reinforce the firewall.

Does anyone have the p/n to the spacer?

maybe an 1/8th in plate with the same hole pattern. shouldnt take much, but with going from 4 to 2 bolts, i would make sure it wont be ripping out of the fire wall when you need it.

Don't try and order the spacer from BMW, i ended up with a bracket that was 4 studs on one side, 4 hole on the other. This was a $35 headache.

The e32 735i booster has a bracket that is almost exactly the same as the iX, and are easier to find in junkyards. I've also got an extra one if you're interested.

Some one posted a picture of their booster post-explosion from auto-x last month and he was running it w/o the spacer. Last time i looked at my booster I noticed the spacer has an angle to it. Did his booster pop because of the different angle the rod had inside the booster after removing the spacer? I'm going to try to find the thread and post it here for reference.

              Edit:

It was a different person than the OP that had his booster fail, but he had the same mod.

I want to do this to mine too because i don't like how the remote mount res looks, but this is now my concern. Only reason I am asking is because I really don't know how boosters work lol.

I actually cut the spacer part out of the booster and welded the 4 bolt plate to the two studs and the booster.

                    ^^ interesting.

i'm running ix booster with no spacer. no firewall reinforcement required what the heck.. Two bolts on the booster. good enough for three and a half years of track. good enough for many more ; / ...if you do want to reinforce, make a plate and put it on the inside. Again, two bolts is good enough.

^^^ exactly what I did..you dont drill new holes, just slot the 2 that match up with the booster (no spacers) and E34 MC/res..it will clear the intake boot

When I test fit it, it seemed it would fit with the ix MC and res without the spacer.
