M54 Block S50/52 Head?

My buddy just tore down a m54 at his shop and said that I could buy the block and crank for $50. I am wondering if I could put a S50/52 head on it and use s50 rods and pistons. I would love to use the aluminum block but I am worried about finding used parts for a dual vanos engine. He took a look at it yesterday and said that it looked like it might fit, but before throwing the money down I figured I would ask and see...

Does anyone have any experience with this combo? Would it even work?

cooling passages are completely differerent.

If you want the aluminum diet then rebuild the entire M54. I'm making S50 power out of mine.

What do you think it would cost for a complete m54 build, I have access to the crank but that would be it. I have read through your thread, it sounds like a ton of fun...
