Yeah I tend to get carried away with bench-racing too much. I'm just really trying to figure what's the best route to go to get ~300 crank/250whp. I'd rather not have to build the motor as I'm not very confident in that area. From what I want it's looking more like euro s52 or s54. I don't have an unlimited budget, but I'm willing to save to get what I need to get to my goal. And sorry if my sentences aren't very clear, I'm trying to work on that. Only problem I have with the s54 is I'm not really into drive-by-wire, plus all the electrical involved, is too much. So that leaves the s52, which leads me to some other questions. Can the euro s52 be converted to OBD1? How would one go about sourcing a euro s52? Is the swap similar to a regular 24v swap? And lastly, would I be farther ahead just buying an m30b35 for cheap and building it?

been in AND driven both. I own an obd2 s52 (with obd1 manifold). my s52 spanks the m30. its even torquier IMO. same gearing basically, my car IS a bit lighter, but its also pulling 17"s
now, IXguido... either engine will need LOTS of $$ to get your power goal of 300c/250whp... NA. The s50b32 swap is very similar, minus the brake setup (booster/MC), minus the ews and you'll need to search about it as i'm not too familiar with that particular swap. Mechanically it should be the same. The thing comes stock with another 85hp over the s52b32 (us s52) consider that... consider you'll have a real good time finding parts here too.No more e30s for me.

From what I heard. You can make a s5x much faster than a m30, unless you turbo it.Originally posted by audiquattrotbimmers b4 b*tches....remember that.

250whp = S52 with common bolt on mods / cams / tune will get you there. b35 will require more work and won't be very streetable.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

If this is true, and I believe it is, then why is everyone saying 250whp/300bhp is gonna cost $$$ n/a in a us s52? Raise the compression, bigger injectors, some head work, and full headers should get 300bhp?Comment

Look through various build threads on bfc to get an idea. It's going to cost even more money trying to get 250whp out of N/A m30 ;)Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

AFAIK there was a euro s50b30 and s52b32, the b30 had 286hp and the b32 had 321hp. But I don't want to start an argument over that, and I could be wrong. I'm not concerned about budget, I don't have a lot of money, I'm just willing to save to get what I want.
Is your s52 stock minus the OBD1 conversion? Yeah I realize finding parts would be an issue as well. Would it would be more cost effective to build an US s52b32 then? Here is a catch: If you build a US s52b32 you're using all custom parts, why not just replace any worn parts on the euro motor with custom parts? Either way when it comes time to replace/repair, you'll be using custom parts... no?paint sucksComment

300bhp is a lot on an s52. mike30 had a vac head, cams, 11:1 pistons, etc, etc, all the best, and i think he made like 280whp with some tuning left. find his thread, then ask him how much hit cost, then price an s54. or just stop thinking you need some arbitrary power figure when youve never even driven any swapped e30s.Comment
