You have fun with that $1000 crankshaft in that $300 motor. I'd probably go for the full S38 before I did that.
I think it was a feeble attempt at humor (point being that the M30 is the bigger motor)

^Why not just drop in an S38?
The other advantage of m30 over the m50 motor is that the chassis will never ask you "Is it in yet?"Leave a comment:

would be fun to build a M30 with S38B38 crank and some bigger bore pistons with decent CR, 280 odd cam, proper exhaust etc etc. Would do that before swapping a 3.2L M50 even if it cost more.Leave a comment:

Did not read the whole thread so excuse anything being restated:
Swapping any engine into an ix (assuming by your sn) is down right stupid. The transfer case and front axles will not handle any more significant power than what a m20 puts out.
I have a m30b35 in my e30 and recently went for a ride in a s52 powered e30, the s52 felt way faster.
m50 swap is out of the question for me. There is NO point in spending that much money/time on the swap. Sure you'll have a few more hp, quieter and better looking but is that worth it?Leave a comment:
