Idle control valve

I have an s52 obd 1 swap, and I think my icv is acting up. My question is are all e36 icv regardless of obd1 and obd2 the same? I've heard two things that 1. you have to get a icv from an obd1 and 2. BMW used the same ICV for all vanos e36 motors. I could check and just take the intake manifold off but then I'd have to put it back together to go to the store and buy another icv then take the manifold off again to replace it.

It appears as though the ICV cross references between OBD-I and OBD-II engines.

supposebly even the e30 icv works.

My S52 OBD 2 ICV is working on my OBD 1 conversion. So yes, you can run them on both.

ive have seen M50 ICV's on M20's.. harder to tell the other way around.

i don't know first hand, but id be willing to give it a shot once i get my s52 sorted.

i don't see why not tho. same connector and purpose. size is a bit different but that's all i see.
